This is a really nice outdoor security camera with a lot of features. First off, the device itself feels very well made and doesn’t feel cheap. It’s exterior is mostly made from metal and is quite heavy for a security camera. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not unmanageable, but it can be a little awkward setting up. It does come with almost everything you need minus a microSD card for storage, however, that is not even that necessary to use it. So yes, it can be used without a microSD card if you choose. The accessories included are also well made and they need to be, to properly be able to support this camera.

The overall setup is pretty easy. The only more difficult thing about it can be the actual mounting process. Just be sure to mount this in an area where it will be secure and has access to your Wi-Fi. This can connect to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network which definitely helps. Other than that, the setup is very fast and easy. The app guides you through everything. Depending on where you mount it, make sure you have access to it during setup as it will need to scan a QR code.

This camera does have a built in battery (no solar panel, but it could work with one if you have one already). I fully charged the battery once and so far, it’s doing pretty well battery life wise. However, battery life will vary depending on how much or how little you use it.

I really like the app setup and design. It’s very user friendly and easy to follow. Because this is a PTZ cam, you can make your own pre-sets for the positioning of the camera – this is something I really like. If motion is detected it will move and follow the subject until it is out of its panning capabilities.

The video quality is quite nice and very useable for a camera like this and the field of view is quite large. It also does a great job detecting people, packages, vehicles, etc.

All things considered, I really like this outdoor security camera and have been using it for a little while now with no issues to report. It’s been through rain and snow and I have no moisture issues whatsoever. I really like the user interface on the app and overall image quality. It’s definitely a camera I will be using for quite some time!

I’m a bit of a surveillance system geek. There’s a lot that goes into understanding what kind of camera you need for what location. Lots of other factors involved, too.

The first thing I ask myself when I am looking for a camera for a location is if I need 24/7 footage from that camera. If I do, then I go with a certain other brand. If I am okay with footage from motion events only, I go with a Reolink camera.

As I get older, I tend to look for shortcuts as far as wiring goes. If I have the option to put up a wireless camera, that is the way I go every time. Being able to rely on a solar panel and Wi-Fi, with no wires, is fantastic.

I already have solar panels, so I didn’t need to purchase an extra one for this camera.

One benefit of this camera is the fact that it uses a spotlight in the evening which gives you full color night time pictures. If you are trying to be discreet, and you don’t want a spotlight, then you should consider a camera with infrared night vision. Unless the light is a problem for a neighbor, I think it’s a benefit because it lets the potential intruder know that they are being watched and recorded.

The app is fantastic. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but I’m not sure how they could have done it better. You need to understand how to start a cloud plan, even if it’s the free one that they offer, and then link your camera to that plan. Once you do that, you can look at all of your past events for that camera. Even if it occurred a minute ago, it will be there in the app for you.

Take time to really learn the app and all the settings. Sometimes I see people complaining or talking about things that are easily adjusted in the settings and they haven’t taken time to fully understand the camera and the app.

This is one of the top this camera is unreal, for its price point. It has hardware and software that cameras triple its price don’t have. There is a lot to love about this camera for the casual user or in a professional implementation. The software and setup is quite simple but also quite thorough. Does not have starlink like the previous generation. I assume that’s cost savings. There is no comparison under $200 based on dozen or so good I’ve tried in this price range.
I hope they release another version is exactly like this with its own 4G LTE service. That connectivity with the solar panel and you’ve got a real game changer on your hands. Especially if they can pull it off for under $300.
But until then I suspect this will stay my primary camera. I typically try a new camera out for three or four weeks at a time and then try a new one just cuz I enjoy it. But the picture quality is so good on this one that I can’t see replacing it being a wise choice. Supplementing it sure, but all the other brands that I’ve tried can’t shake a stick at the clarity of these images when you zoom in on them. The set up for this camera is really easy. I installed it with an SD Card I purchased to be able to view footage in the app that has to be downloaded in order to set it up with wifi. There is also the option to purchase the cloud if you’d like. The image is pretty clear and the audio as well. I like that it does a full pan and tilt so I am able to view the whole area from where it’s set up.
